Lots of progress on the Spit today. Stripped the last few pieces out of the interior, unbolted the body from the chassis and winched it up into the air. Have a look-see inside.

Chassis looks to be in great condition. A little surface rust, but nothing that looks like it'll need replacing.

There's also a part of me that really wants to strap a seat back in there and go for a drive. If the engine was working, I reckon I'd be doing that now.

Everyone knows that if you want to fight the Jerries, you need a Mustang.

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the progress of this, even if it mostly just makes me feel lazy.

So if you were able to unbolt the body from the chassis is the Spitfire body on frame or unibody? I've never really understood which classifies as which.

It's body one frame, but it's actually a little bit of a hybrid. Instead of chassis rails running down the sides of the chassis, the body tub has structural sills that add to the stiffness of the chassis.

If it was a unibody, the chassis rails you can see would be part of the body, or at least seam welded or spot welded to it so that it's all one unit.

Sweet. Looks like they sell it in the UK too.

It really tough stuff. I've used it on Land Cruisers and cars. There is also Miracle Paint, you can actually patch rust holes with the stuff and its very strong. Make a patch of 3 layers of glass fibre mat soaked in Miracle Paint and apply it over the rust hole Here below. But your car has no holes. You can use it on exhaust though.

That was the stuff you said previously. I shot them an email, but they can't send it to the UK. Not sure if it's import laws on chemicals, or issues with shipping it or flying it but they can't sell it over here.

Oh yes, I think they can't fly it. They are similar, I think Por-15 came along more recently, the Bill Hirsch Miracle Paint has been around for a long time. I would bet you can do the exact same applications with either of them. When we did the FJ55 Cruiser I had the whole thing sprayed before the paint with Por-15, its good stuff! If Kent says he can't ship it he really can't. I have known him a long time, he was a bush pilot in Papua New Guinea,
